President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday beat Nairobi Governor and one of his closest Jubilee comrades Mike Sonko for the coveted champion bull in an auction. This happened at the Jamhuri grounds as the head of state officially opened the annual Nairobi International Trade Fair.
The champion bull which weighs over 700 kgs cost the President a whooping Ksh 1.2 million in the contest which attracted locals, farmers and butchers. Sonko however didn’t walk empty handed as he was able to edge out competition to bag the reserve champion bull at Sh1 million.
The two bulls, sold at Sh2.2 million were reared by the Kenya Seed Company. The company’s bulls have a five-year back to back winning streak in the competition.
According to Kenya Seed Company managing director, Mr Azaria Soi, the secret behind the healthy bulls is the right choice of animal feeds as well as the right selection for the breed to be reared.
“All you need is just access to the right quality of feed and genetics of course, that is you have to know which breed can grow to be this big.” Said Soi.
